I am writing to share with you our plans to open a “Key Worker School @ Mayfield”.

From Monday 23rd March, we will only be providing face to face teaching to pupils who are 'vulnerable,' or to the children of 'key workers.' Whilst we await final confirmation, the definitions of 'vulnerable' and 'key workers' are likely to be:

  • Looked After Children;
  • Pupils with an EHCP;
  • Pupils on a Child Protection Plan;
  • Pupils on a Child in Need Plan;
  • Children of NHS workers;
  • Children of public sector workers;
  • Children of Mayfield School staff and governors;
  • Children of armed services;
  • Children of delivery drivers;
  • Children of supermarket staff.

We will automatically enrol all pupils who are 'vulnerable' and their parents or carers will be contacted directly to discuss their child’s provision and support. If you have any questions about this, please email our SENCo, Mrs. Erika Anders at: [email protected]

Tomorrow (Friday 20th March) we will circulate via our social media feeds and website an online form for parents and carers who are considered 'key workers' to complete. This is the ONLY way to enrol your child onto this provision and you will need to complete one e-form per child. The deadline for completing this form is 6:00pm on Saturday 21st March.

Some important points about KWS@Mayfield :

  • Pupils will be expected to attended KWS@Mayfield every day for a two week block (this is not a drop in session);
  • Pupils attending MUST wear full school uniform and observe our dress code;
  • Pupils and staff should only enter and exit the school via the Main Reception on Mayfield Road;
  • Children of Mayfield School staff, who are not on roll, may be enrolled and should wear their existing school uniform;
  • We will follow our existing behaviour management policy, including a ban on the use of mobile phones;
  • The school will open at 7:45am for a breakfast club (this is free of charge);
  • Lessons for all pupils regardless of age, will start at 8:45am and pupils will be dismissed at 4:30pm;
  • A hot lunch will be provided daily (this is free of charge). There will be a vegetarian option. Packed lunches are not permitted;
  • Pupils will be required to bring a PE kit in everyday;
  • A ‘tea time’ club for any pupil enrolled on KWS@Mayfield will run from 4:30pm until 6:00pm (this is chargeable and payments should be made through Scopay);
  • If your child is ill then you should contact us as normal on our absence line: 02392 693432.

The above is subject to change following an assessment of staffing levels and any further Government guidance.

Over the Easter Break we are hoping to run an Easter School. If you wish to express an interest in this, then please indicate on the e-form when signing up for KWS @ Mayfield. There will be another chance to sign up for our KWS@Mayfield to start on 20th April 2020 (if the school remains closed).

Many thanks.
