You will be aware that the Secretary of State for Education, Rt. Hon. Gavin Williamson has now announced that all schools in England will be open ONLY for “vulnerable” children and those whose parents or carers are “key workers”.

In response to this measure:

Thursday and Friday

School will operate as “normal” and parents should follow our established procedures to report an absence. Children who are “self-isolating” should follow current Government guidelines available here:

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-stay-at-home-guidance/stay-at-home-guidance-for-households-with-possible-coronavirus-covid-19-infection

 From Monday 23rd March onwards

We will be open to pupils who have been defined as “vulnerable” and to children of “key workers”. We await final confirmation of these definitions, however, vulnerable/keyworkers is likely to mean:

  • Pupils who are Looked After Children
  • Pupils with an EHCP
  • Pupils on a Child Protection Plan
  • Pupils on a Child in Need Plan
  • Children of NHS workers
  • Children of public sector workers
  • Children of armed services
  • Children of supermarket staff

This is a working definition and as soon as we have a definitive list, we will share this with you. A system will be set up to allow parents and carers  to self-declare in order to alert us that their child falls into one of the categories above. We will, of course, cross reference this with our own databases to ensure no one misses out.

Trips and Enrichment Activities

In light of the above, all trips between Monday 23rd March and Friday 3rd April are cancelled. Please be reassured that all monies paid will be refunded. Once more information is available we will update you about trips and activities due to take place after Easter.

Parents Evening

Given the partial school closure, the planned Year 11 parents evening on 26th March will be cancelled. This will not be rescheduled. The Year 9 parents evening on the 2nd April is likely to be moved to the Summer Term.

EYFS, KS1 and Year 11 external assessments

Our understanding is that there will be no Primary or Secondary external assessment this summer. We await further details.

Home Learning

Our principle means of providing home learning is via our school website. With the reduced roll of pupils in school, we will allocate time to staff to prepare and resource the website so that pupils have a stream of high quality tasks. Additionally, home learning packs will be sent out for each Primary class. These will be sent home by close of play on Friday 20th March in book bags if the child is in school, otherwise these will be available to collect from the Main Reception from Monday 23rd March during “normal” school hours.

Many thanks.
