Our Year 2 Seal class was very lucky to be the first group of children to try a new way of learning Spanish with One Third Stories, a company that creates stories that start in English and end in a different language.

I had asked for help from the pupils in Seal class; I wanted them to listen and read the One Third Stories first book, and then, complete a questionnaire to see what they had learnt from the book. All the pupils were deeply engaged with this and were amazed by the Spanish words that they could understand and translate into English. The boys were particularly amused by the dinosaurio and the eye-catching illustration of him wearing zapatos. We were very lucky to welcome Alex Somervell, one of the creators of One Third Stories, to come and see Seals enjoying this reading and listening.

With the input of the pupils in Seal class, One Third Stories has changed some areas to their books and this is thanks to our pupils’ input.

I would recommend all parents to check out One Third Stories website and download their free audiobooks of famous fairytales, and join their Facebook group ‘Language learning for kids – Parent support, resources and ideas group’ where you can find other great resources in Spanish and other languages.
