Over the past few weeks both year 8 and year 11 have had the opportunity to take place in careers events.

Year 8 BAE STEM Roadshow

Year 8 watched a fantastic, interactive show by BAE and learnt all there is to know about WAVES, and were able to make their own beatbox soundwave track, ably supported by Miss Richards.

Year 11 took part in careers workshops with the Mayfield careers advisor, Julia Jennings; they learnt the differences between the many post 16 qualification and career pathways.

The following day they took part in a carousel of activities around the theme of Interview Skills; body language, CV writing, questioning skills and team building, were all on the agenda.

The next day that put their newfound skills into action with a Mock Interview experience, facilitated by local business volonteers.

3 of our pupils did a week of work experience. One pupil spent the week at BAE. 2 more pupils were lucky enough to spend a week at Portsmouth Aviation working on a project management taster. Here we see them being awarded a very well deserved certificate after presenting to the managing director and other VIPs.

Finally they whole of year 11 spent a day at Highbury College to get a ‘generic FE college experience’. They took part in workshops on sport, construction, animal care, hair and beauty, A levels, travel and tourism, to name but a few.

Our pupils were a credit to their school throughout these events, resulting in many positive comments from all of our business visitors; our local EBP supported sveral of these events and we extend our thenks to them.
