Year 7 Rugby Festival:

The Year 7 rugby team attended the Hampshire RFU tournament held at Southampton RFC. The festival was attended by 28 schools across Hampshire and we were blessed with the weather which allowed some fantastic rugby to take place.

The focus for the festival is that the players participating were having fun, learning and developing their understanding of rugby and to leave feeling positive about the game which I believe was certainly the case.

The Core Values of rugby were at the centre of the festival (Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship) which were reinforced throughout the day.

Throughout the day Mayfield played 8 games, winning 7 and only losing the 1, scoring 15 tries in the process. This is a fantastic achievement from all involved and Mayfield have never finished so high. With only 3 club rugby players involved in the team, it would be great to hear more of the team getting involved in rugby as clearly the talent is there.

Overall an excellent performance from Mayfield and the students did the school proud and put us on the rugby map within the county.
