Following the publication of GCSE results today (Thursday 23rd August) , Mayfield School has seen a significant improvement in pupil attainment across the range of subjects. Headteacher, Mr. David Jeapes said:

"Following the introduction of significantly more difficult GCSE specifications across the full range of subjects we are thrilled that our pupils have risen to this challenge. We are particularly delighted to see a significant increase in the number of pupils attaining the highest level with over 50 grades 8 or 9 recorded. In all areas of the curriculum we have seen improvements, but none more so than in Science and Computer Science which have delivered our best ever GCSE results – up almost 40% on last year. Once again, our Performing Arts (Drama, Dance and Music) and Modern Languages have secured excellent results across the board.”

The collective results reflect 218 individual stories. Miss. Louise Hillier, Head of Seniors said:

"I would like to congratulate all of our pupils on their success and thank the staff for their hard work and our parents and carers for their support. It has been wonderful to see pupils, parents and staff come together to make this happen in what has been a challenging year of change for everybody.”

The top achieving pupils (5+ level 7 or better) for Mayfield School this year are:

WILLMETT Hannah
CREASEY Maisie
BENNETT Jay
FOORD Charlie
STOREY Connor
BES Pawel
HOUSLEY Ruth
HASAN Ariful
HUNT Lucy
MCGILLIVRAY Ellie
STEEL Kelan

This GCSE success comes on the back of some impressive results for the school's new primary section. Mr. Matt Stedman, Head of Primary said:

"In September 2014 we welcomed the first cohort of pupils into our Primary Section. Once again results in Year 1 Phonics and Year R ‘Good Level of Development’ have achieved exceptionally well. Also, our second cohort to complete KS1 SATs have achieved above national average expectations. We are very proud of all of them!”
