On Monday 18th of December, Discovery House were the first to get into the festive spirit during the first of Mayfield’s Christmas dinners.

Whilst listening to Christmas music and chatting with friends, members of Discovery-years 1, 2 & 3 and the whole of the senior school-enjoyed a Christmas dinner together in the main hall.

During the dinner, many tutor groups participated in the Christmas quiz and an Attendance raffle with great prizes of selection boxes, Christmas Stockings, £25 and £50 gift vouchers.

Christmassy centre pieces, made in tutor time, were proudly displayed on the tables; ready to be judged for the centre piece competition. Congratulations to all, but our champions this year were D5 in first place with their gigantic snowman! D6 came second with their edible display and D9 third with their more traditional approach with their Christmas wreath.

Finally, after dinners and ice cream were eaten, tables were called up to vote on which house’s decorated Christmas tree they thought was the best-excluding Discovery’s tree of course!

Merry Christmas to everyone from all in Discovery.

On the 20th of December, Endeavour house had a Christmas lunch so that we could celebrate the Christmas holiday that everyone wanted.

During this festive lunch, we ran competitions such as the ginger bread house competition where each tutor group had the challenge of creating the best ginger bread house while having their Christmas meal. Also, some fortunate students won prizes for Christmas stockings; some even got gift vouchers worth £25 and £50. Endeavour’s primary section even joined in with the joy and even had a colouring competition.

While music surrounded us, while we ate, we got to vote for the best looking tree out of the other three houses. Our tree was based on the Frozen film with wishes applied to it which was by far the best.

Throughout the week, Christmas hampers were made by each tutor group in endeavour with the purpose of helping the unfortunate homeless people. Common items included socks, toothbrushes and food to support the homeless in need. Every tutor group put great effort into the Christmas hamper and these will all be helpful towards the homeless. One of the decorations of the hamper was a snowman’s head.

After everyone had their Christmas meal, all students including the infants, we were given ice cream and this is when everyone could vote for the best tree: not involving Endeavour’s. We were all granted with a ‘Merry Christmas’ and the joyful lunch was over.

On Thursday 21st December, Intrepid were the last house to have their Christmas Dinners.

There was more Christmas music, a delicious dinner, and some tutor groups had even brought their own treats to snack on too! During the meal the senior section completed a quiz, whilst the primary section enjoyed some colouring in.

After the meal, all those students who had 100% attendance had their name put into an envelope, and had the chance to win a prize. Lucky students from the primary section won a selection box each, whilst their senior section counterparts won stockings filled with goodies, £25, and £50 shopping vouchers.

Each tutor had designed and made their own centre piece, to which Miss Hillier voted on who had the best one. I2 were very disappointed to lose their crown, as Miss Hillier awarded this year’s best centre piece to I1

We finished our Christmas Dinner with a house rendition of ‘Let It Go’, and voting for the house we thought had decorated their Christmas tree the best.

We hope you enjoy the rest of the festive season, and have a very merry Christmas, and a happy New Year. Intrepid House.

On Tuesday 19th of December, Victory House came together to enjoy a Christmas dinner as part of the Mayfield Christmas celebrations.

In the run up to the dinner pupils were very busy in tutor time making crackers filled with hats, gifts and jokes to enjoy as part of the event. The hats all looked fabulous and added to the atmosphere.

The annual centre piece competition was close as always, the tutor groups pulled out all of the stops to create fantastic showstoppers for their tables. V4 were the winning group with an exceptional train, inspire by The Polar Express. Well done V4.

After we had all enjoyed our food, the quiz results were announced and attendance prizes were given out.

The highlight of the dinner was the performance given by the Victory House tutors….they had obviously been practicing for months.

Finally, after dinners and ice cream were eaten, we all voted on the best Christmas tree. Hopefully Victory got lots of votes from the other houses!

Merry Christmas and a happy new year to everyone, from all in Victory.
