Following the publication of GCSE results today (Thursday 24th August) , Mayfield School has seen a significant improvement in pupil progress across the range of subjects. Headteacher, Mr. David Jeapes said:

"Following the introduction of significantly more challenging new GCSE specifications in English and Mathematics we are thrilled that our pupils have risen to this challenge. We are particularly delighted that many of our grades were at the most difficult level 8 or 9. Across the school, Mayfield has seen a pleasing improvement in the full range of academic subjects particularly in Geography, History, Computing and Spanish all of which contribute to the ‘EBacc’. This is on top of the continuing success of our newly establish Primary provision.”

The collective results reflect 176 individual stories. Miss. Louise Hillier, Head of Seniors said:

"I would like to congratulate all of our pupils on their success and thank the staff for their hard work and our parents and carers for their support. It has been wonderful to see pupils, parents and staff come together to make this happen in what has been a challenging year of change for everybody.”

The top achieving pupils for Mayfield School this year are:

  • Laura Mayes
  • Jack Baker
  • Cullain Escott
  • Bethany McAvery
  • Cameron Kane
  • Amira Rahman
  • Samantha Rimmer
  • Joseph Dalloway
  • Amber Griffiths
  • Jessica Wilson
  • Sabina Kamsa
  • Bethany Pennick

This GCSE success comes on the back of some impressive results for the school's new primary section. Mr. Matt Stedman, Head of Primary said:

"In September 2014 we welcomed the first cohort of pupils into our Primary Section. Once again results in Year 1 Phonics and Year R ‘Good Level of Development’ have achieved exceptionally well and   our first cohort to complete KS1 SATs have achieved above national average expectations. We are very proud of all of them!”
