You may be aware that Mayfield School, with the support of Portsmouth City Council, was successful in its bid for central government money to improve our facilities. We have been in discussion with the building contractors and we are at the stage where we now need to undertake a full site survey. This work is scheduled to take place between Monday 24th July and Friday 11th August. The survey will involve drilling a number of bore holes up to 15m in depth across the school site, including the playing fields. This work will generate noise and some additional traffic. Whilst the specific dates and times of work have not yet been agreed with the contractor we have sought to minimise the impact to local residents by arranging for:

  • All vehicles to be accommodated on the school site in a compound on the East Field;
  • All drilling to be restricted to take place between 9:00am and 4:00pm;
  • All bore holes to be made good after samples are taken.

We would like to apologise in advance for any disruption caused to local residents but hope you understand that it is vital that there is a full and accurate survey taken before final plans are drawn up and published. Once this work is completed we will be in a position to progress detailed planning which we will, of course, share with you at a later date.

I appreciate that we have had a number of building projects taking place on the school site over the last few years and thank you for the understanding you have shown.  If you have any further questions about this work, then please contact Huw Thomas on [email protected]

Yours faithfully,

David Jeapes,
