We entered a team of Year 2 children in the Portsmouth Schools Tri-Golf Festival at the Mountbatten Centre on Monday.  The children had been practising their golf skills in their PE lesson over the last half-term and did superbly in the festival.  We had excellent team work and our children showed that they have the potential to be the golfing superstars of the future.

The event was organised by the Portsmouth Schools Sport Partnership with 30 teams from different infant schools taking part. Our Year 9 Sports Leaders were in charge of organising the activities, coaching the younger children and keeping the scores.  It was the first event that the Sports Leaders had organised and they all did a fantastic job of encouraging the younger children, receiving many positive comments from the other schools who were present.

Our Year 2 team was Ellie-Mae King, Belle Curry, Alice Mason, Greta Milne, Lexie Firth, Connie Holden, George Watkiss, Lloyd Button, Archie Ashton and Finlay Dunford.  We finished in 4th position narrowly missing out on the medals by just 10 points.  Our team and the Sports Leaders really did Mayfield proud at this event!
