We had another ‘first’ for the infant section on Tuesday afternoon when we entered our first sports team in a Portsmouth Schools Sport Festival. Ten children from Year 2 represented Mayfield at the Tennis and Rackets Festival at Priory School where they competed against teams from 20 other local infant schools. The children showed great enthusiasm and tremendous ball and racket skills through the event. They did our school proud with their exemplary behaviour all afternoon. At present, we are waiting for the results to be counted and we hope to find out whether we have won the trophy in time for Celebration Assembly on Friday.
Our team for this event was Isabel Butcher, Vada Harris, Brynley Huntley, Callum Jupe, Evie Lewis, Ollie Moore, Caden Scott, Shekinah Olaiya, George Stack and Holly Taylor. Well done all of you!
We have also entered teams in several other sports festivals in 2017 including Tag Rugby, Dance, Agility, Tri-Golf and Football. It is our aim that all of the Year 2 get to represent us at least once in one of the Festivals.
