As you may be aware Anti-Bullying week runs from 14th-18th November. To raise awareness around this topic we will be holding assemblies for all house groups on the theme of 'Standing up to bullies'. As well as this we will also be looking at the following topics over the next 3 weeks in tutor time:

  • What is bullying?
  • Reporting bullies and supporting targets of bullying
  • Consequences of bullying
  • Cyberbullying
  • Treating others with respect

Can we also take this opportunity to remind you that

At Mayfield we do not tolerate any disrespectful behaviour, whether it is defined as bullying or not. We define bullying as “Behaviour by an individual or group, usually repeated over time, that intentionally hurts another individual or group either physically or emotionally” (Safe to learn, DfE, 2007).

If you suspect that your child is the target of disrespectful behaviour (or has been bullied) then please report this to any member of staff – we will investigate the issue fully, offer support to the targets of bullying and ensure that any bullies are sanctioned appropriately.

For further details (including advice on cyberbullying and a copy of our anti-bullying policy)  please visit the ‘Stop Bullying’ section of our school website (click here).
