As part of our ongoing partnership with the University of Southampton ‘Learn with U.S.’ scheme, Bradley and Sam, two post-graduate students, came in to talk to the most able Year 8 students.
A group of twenty-eight students, comprising our fourteen Year 8 IGNITE students, and the next most able students, all met in one of our Art Rooms. Unfortunately, our guests were delayed in traffic, so we firstly had a class discussion about university life, what career choices any students had made so far.
Our guests then arrived, and then gave us a presentation that covered:
- Educational qualification pathways to get to university
- Topics we can / cannot study at university
- Reasons to study at university
- What a ‘typical week’ at university entails
Once this had all concluded, we held a detailed ‘question and answer’ session.
