Mayfield School have been running a Summer School for their Infant pupils. The School runs for one week between the 22nd August and the 26th August and over 60 pupils have attended.

Headteacher, Mr. David Jeapes said:

"Our Summer School has, once again, proved very popular with pupils, parents and staff. We feel that the summer holiday is very long, and some pupils miss the routine of school. I know our parents really appreciate having this option at this time of year."

Mayfield opened it's infant section in 2014 and have recently secure a 97% pass rate with the Year 1 Phonics Screening Test. Mr. Matt Stedman, Head of Primary commented:

"Our infant section is flourishing. We have had more than 5 applications for every place and the progress of the pupils has been outstanding. We believe that our extended school day, extensive extracurricular programme and summer school - which are provided free of charge - have really helped this new part of the school flourish."

During the summer school pupils continue with their normal studies with a focus on literacy and numeracy to ensure that pupils maintain their levels across the long summer holiday.
