We were delighted to host our 2021 Summer School in our new building.  The Summer School took place between 23rd and 27th August and was attended by over 200 children from Year 1 to 7.

The aims of our Summer School were for pupils to:

  • Develop a sense of teamwork, meeting new people and making new friends
  • Develop the 6 Rs of Ready, Resilient, Respectful, Responsible, Resourceful and Reflective
  • Keep up with the literacy and numeracy skills over the long summer break
  • Learn their way around the new school and feel less anxious about coming to the new Mayfield in September

Our Year 7 pupils worked in House Teams for the week on the Tenner Challenge where they had to develop a business model for the Enterprise Sale at the end of the week.  They used their English, Maths and Enterprise skills to work out their marketing and pricing strategy and developed a sense of teamwork throughout the week.  There were also a series of House Challenges throughout the week, such as the Monster Inflatable. Thank you to all of the parents who attended our Enterprise Sale on the Friday afternoon.

This year's Summer School was funded by a grant of £64,000 from the Department for Education and we are required to publish the costs for the week:

Staffing £45,000
Facilities costs, cleaning and utilities £3,000
T-shirts for Year 7 uniform £1,000
Food  £6,000
Learning Resources £5,000

We are already looking forward to next summer's Summer School!
